Uber Stardate 93943.9 Ridesharing now legal in Miami-Dade County!

It is a very exciting time for Uber Partners. After two years of looking over our shoulders and fighting hard to get our voices heard, the Miami-Dade County Commission passed ridesharing regulations with a vote of 9-2 which should take effect in 10 days unless Mayor Gimenez vetoes the regulations. The County Commission clearly understands that “this is what the customer is used to globally”.

Uber claims to have about 10,000 drivers in Miami-Dade County. It is going to provide a great deal of economic opportunity.

With over $4 millions in fines still outstanding that were levied mostly at Miami International Airport, the next question is, “Will these fines vanish or be reduced to offset legal expenses?” as proposed by Mayor Gimenez. It was a long two year fight.

The new pro-Uber regulations are not without controversy. Now the taxis are suing Miami Dade for $1 Billion. The fight continues….
